This is my all time favorite steak marinade for grilled steaks! I’ve shared this recipe with literally EVERYONE I know and now it’s time to share it with you! Now I must confess, I was never really a big steak eater. I was a total chicken, chicken, chicken, all day err day kind of girl……Until I discovered this ahh-mazing recipe!!! Really!! It made me an instant convert. Now I know what you hardcore steak eaters are thinking…steak is fine on its own. Who needs a steak marinade? But I’m telling you don’t knock it til you try it! It’s insanely good and packed with so much flavor, resulting in that melt in your mouth, gotta have it delicious, juicy, tender steak every time. And with Father’s Day coming up this Sunday I thought what better time to roll this one out?!? Dad’s got enough neckties and coffee mugs anyways. Give him what he really wants this year. A nice big, fat steak!
Here’s all you’ll need: steak cut of your choice (obvi!), olive oil, red wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
First in a large bowl or container combine the olive oil, red wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Yep! All the ingredients! Toss em all in there. Mix em all up! This recipe is seriously SO easy and you probably already have most of these ingredients on hand. I love it when that happens!!
Next add the steaks to the container and turn to coat. Seal and marinate overnight….or for 8 hours….I mean 4 hours….2 hours?!?…..whatever you have time for! Girl…I get it! Life gets busy!! Honestly if I was on my A-game I would probably toss these in the fridge in the morning and cook them at dinner time. Like I said, that is A-game. I’ve definitely made these on my B, C, D, F game and just tossed them on the grill too. It happens. So do whatever works for you! BUT…the longer the better!! We used NY Strip steaks (aka Sirloin steak) for the recipe, but by all means swap out for a flank steak, filet, T-bone, ribeye, or whatever cut you like.
Remove the steak from the fridge and let it sit, covered, at room temperature for about 20 minutes. Again this is in a perfect world people! Don’t stress if you don’t have the time. Grill on a preheated grill over medium heat for 10-12 minutes. And you’re going to have to throw a flip in there somewhere. Now I must warn you!! Since this steak marinade is oil based it has a tendency to flame up a bit. So keep a close and watchful eye! No worries though, just douse the flames with some water (or a can of beer) to put out the fire and keep grilling. But seriously if you don’t have a beer in your hand already, are you even really grilling????
If you’re really fancy you can bust out your meat thermometer and check for doneness. We are addicted to the iGrill2 Complete Master Kit with 4 Pro Meat Probes – Weber. We’ve gone through so many cheap and flimsy meat thermometers that I finally splurged and bought my hubby this over the top high tech one. It’s never steered us wrong and is always right on the money temp wise. Oh and did I mention it sends alerts to your phone?!? So you can keep an eye on your meat from literally anywhere!! It really is the coolest!! Here’s a list of your basic cooking temps for steak: medium rare (internal temp of 135), medium (internal temp of 140), medium well (internal temp of 150). Anything more than that and we can’t be friends anymore.
Voila! Could there even be anything more beautiful than that??? Pair with our Foil Packet Italian Veggies and you’ve really got yourself a meal!
