No Mess Bacon

No Mess Bacon

How awesome is bacon?!? No really. Think about it for a minute. You can pretty much add it ANY dish and it instantly makes the meal even better. Everybody loves eating bacon, but not everybody loves cooking it. Preparing it in a stovetop skillet can be such a hassle. Things like grease splatters and smoke can quickly make a mess of your kitchen. Once you use this simple method, I promise you will never cook bacon any other way….EVER….AGAIN! Check out this technique to make your life a whole lot simpler…and definitely more delicious!!

Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Place bacon strips in a single layer on the aluminum foil. No need to  spray the foil with cooking spray. You can just lay them right on top of the foil.

Get ready to sizzle!! Place the cookie sheet in the oven. Set oven to 410 degrees. That’s right! No preheating!! Put the bacon in the oven and then set the temperature. The slow rise in temperature will reduce grease splatters.  Cook for about 15-20 minutes depending on how crispy you like it (15-20 minutes from the time you turn the oven on, not from the time it gets to temperature).  I check on it at about 15 minutes and go from there. I like my bacon extra crispy and crunchy so I usually lean more towards the 20 minute mark.

Ta-da! Perfectly cooked bacon and I bet you didn’t even set off the smoke alarms!! (Nope? Is that just me when I cook bacon in a skillet??)

Carefully remove the bacon from the cookie sheet and place on a paper towel. Blot off the excess oil. And you’re ready to eat!

Now here is the best part! All of your mess is right here on the aluminum foil. All you have to do now is wait for the foil and cookie sheet to cool down. Go drink some coffee! Read a book! Really this is the part where you get to do nothing! Once it’s cool, carefully roll up the foil and toss it in the garbage! How simple is that?
