WARNING!!! This might be the cutest dessert you ever make!! REALLY!!! I was SO excited to make these for Ellie’s Amazing Ice Cream Party because I knew they would be a crowd favorite. But let me tell you, the adorableness of these Ice Cream Cake […]
I’m pretty sure gum balls are the universal symbol of childhood. I remember asking for a quarter on every grocery trip so I could hit up the gum ball machine at the end! Do you remember how lucky you felt when you scored a blue or a red? Or how you would giggle at your brother when he got a green or a yellow? Yuck! Did anyone ever really like those flavors?!? Why did they even put them in there? How is it that a quarter could so easily make you feel like you hit the jackpot all these years ago??? Well, I probably hadn’t chewed one or hit up a gum ball machine for at least 20 years now, but I couldn’t resist chomping on these cute (and tasty!) pearlized gum balls as I was crafting up this next treat! Instant nostalgia that lasts until the flavor runs out. But the true prize will be when my niece is looking back and feeling nostalgic thinking about these darling little treats in about 20 years or so! I’m sure she’ll remember every detail of Ellie’s Amazing Ice Cream Party with a happy heart!
Here’s all you’ll need: Gum balls, tan or gold cupcake liners, 4 X 9.5 in cellophane bags (you can find these at Michaels or at your local craft store), ribbon, and clear tape.
Flatten out a cupcake liner and then fold it in half.
Lay your cellophane bag flat on the table. We used a 4 X 9.5 bag but you can also substitute with a similar size. It doesn’t matter how long the bag is, but you want the width around 3-4″.
Tie with a pretty ribbon to secure and keep everything in place. Cut off any excess cellophane bag at the top if needed. I can’t get over how sweet they are! And you can make them ahead of time or even have the kids help!

When my niece Ellie told me her birthday party theme this year would be ice cream, I secretly shrieked with joy on the inside. Ok so maybe I shrieked with joy out loud! I’m a big kid at heart! I love that I get to […]
I’ve got a thrifty little birthday craft for you!! I busted out my savvy shopping skills and headed on over to the Dollar Tree for this one. Can you believe these vibrant milkshake glasses were only a dollar a piece??? I couldn’t! They had all […]
Who’s ready for some no bake cookies??? ME!! ME!! I AM!!! These cookies are SO easy to make that I ran a test run while babysitting my niece and nephew and made THEM do all the dirty work! The kids loved decorating these adorable cookies all by themselves. Ellie and her brother Nathan are two of my very best helpers in the kitchen. Ellie wanted to save them for her party (which was two weeks later! She’s so sweet!) but Aunt Lisa wanted to make sure they were fresh and fancy them up a little bit. You know, put that Aunt Lisa special touch on it!
Here’s all you’ll need: Nutter Butter Sandwich Cookies, Wilton Candy Melts, red hots or red sixlets, and sprinkles.
Place candy melts into a microwave safe mug. Melt and stir in 30 second intervals until completely melted.
Dip cookie into the candy melts about half way. Now watch me dip!! Now watch me nay nay!
Place cookie on a sheet of parchment or wax paper. Immediately add your sixlet (or red hot) for your cherry! Then add the sprinkles before the candy melts have a chance to harden. (sorry I don’t have a cheesy song lyric to add here!)
Here’s my Aunt Lisa special touch! This part is totally optional but I totally love it. Place a small amount of candy melts in a ziploc bag. Microwave for 30 second or until melted. Cut a small hole in one of the corners of the bag. Then add a little zigzag or swirly line along the bottom of the candy coating.
Repeat with all the cookies, allow candy coating to harden and you’re done! We used white, pink, and brown candy melts to represent vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate ice cream. I added some white candy melts mixed in with the brown to lighten it up a little bit.

Whether you’re turning 8 or 80, you totally NEED this sprinkle number at your next birthday party! It’s such a quick and easy way to decorate a birthday table and it’s an absolute showstopper!! I made this for Ellie’s Amazing Ice Cream Party in July […]
Calling all non bakers!! I’d like to invite all you not crafty people to join us too!! I’m going to show you how to make the absolute easiest birthday party favor EVER!!! Yes YOU!!! You’re going to make this and it’s going to be awesome. […]
Really is there any better birthday theme than an ice cream party?!? Especially when your birthday’s in July!!! Right smack dab in the middle of all that summer heat. Well my little firecracker of a niece had her heart set on a ice cream theme for her 8th birthday this year and Aunt Lisa just ran with it! OK maybe I went a little nuts!! But what’s the point of having nieces and nephews if you can’t spoil them a little bit?!? Back in March, I had helped out and surprised my nephew with some really cool treats for his Super Mario Brothers birthday party, so Ellie was really hoping that I stepped up my game this year for her party because she hates to be outdone! Her Dad told me that every few days leading up to her birthday she would ask him if he thought Aunt Lisa would be making some goodies for her birthday too! Well Princess Ellie, we hate to disappoint, so here you go, lots of presents, cake, an ice cream sundae bar, and all the ice cream themed treats your little heart desires.
The adorable ice cream garland hanging from the table was purchased from Target, as well as the chalkboards. My sister in law set up one on the main table that read: “We all scream for ice cream!” and she also had one set up at the ice cream sundae bar! Such an adorable idea!
The cake was made by a family friend and it was delicious! I’m pretty sure that combination of pink, blue, and purple are every little girl’s favorite colors. The cake toppers were tipped over “melted” ice cream cones. So cute!! We made “chocolate” and “strawberry” Melted Ice Cream Cake Pops to match up with it. Aren’t the Super Sweet Taffy Milkshakes on the sides such a great touch? The kids absolutely loved them!
The Ice Cream Cake Pops were a crowd favorite! They were the spitting image of a real ice cream cone. I love all the little details that went into them. Ellie’s favorite color is pink so of course we had to make “strawberry” alongside the “vanilla”. She thought the sprinkle “8” was pretty awesome too!! You definitely NEED a sprinkle number at your next party!! Our Sprinkle Birthday Number is easier to make than you think! Click the link for tutorial.
The ice cream cone cookies (on the top left) are so simple to make and such a fabulous idea! AND they’re no bake which is always a plus!! Click on the link for instructions on how to make or No Bake Ice Cream Cookies! The sweet treats (on the top right) are Gumball Ice Cream Cones with gum balls layered to look like scoops of ice cream. And I had so much fun decorating these darling ice cream cone cookies!! (we’ll be showing you how to recreate ALL of this coming soon on the blog!!) They were probably my all time favorite cookies that I’ve made.
In the basket on the front corner of the table we added cotton candy to sugar cones to look like real ice cream cones. Click the link to learn how to make our Cotton Candy Ice Cream Cones. Really there was a treat for just about every kind of sweet tooth! And my little diva LOVED it all!! Her eyes lit up when she saw all of the special touches on this birthday table. She was so delighted that she even did a vlog all about it on her youtube channel.
This is what happens when you’re the Birthday Princess and you’re Aunt’s a Baking Queen!!! Did you notice her ice cream hair bow? Love this girl! Really though, at just 8 years old, she is one of my best helpers in the kitchen! She even takes it upon herself to start washing the dishes!!
At 8 years old she is so smart, helpful, kind, caring, thoughtful, talented, and beautiful on the inside and out, but also sassy, diva-licious, and oh so fierce! I hope she’s able to keep all these traits as she grows up. It’s so fun to love this little girl!! Happy Birthday Ellie!!! Love you Princess!!!
